Intermediate Wheel: Beyond the Round

What happens when a wheel-thrown pot refuses to stay perfectly round?

This course is a  six-week exploration of form, function and creative possibility. Designed for potters with established wheel skills, this course will help you move beyond symmetry and discover new ways to bring personality, movement and intention into your work..

Throughout the course  you will introduce techniques including:

• Throwing off the hump
• Altering freshly thrown forms
• Darting to reshape volume and silhouette
• Combining wheel-thrown and handbuilt components
• Developing functional forms with greater visual character

This is more than a technical wheel class. It is an invitation to experiment, loosen familiar habits and explore how a pot can be transformed through touch, alteration and imagination.

Participants must be comfortable with wedging, centering, pulling walls and trimming.
