Winter /Spring Clay & Sculpture Classes for Children & Youth

A Special Friday Program for Students Not Participating in Ski Days

eARTh Studios – Winter Creativity Program

This winter, eARTh Studios offers a warm, inspiring alternative for children and youth who are not skiing on Fridays. While many students head to the slopes, our clay club becomes a cozy, creative sanctuary for young makers who love art-filled afternoons.

Students who are skiing with the Nelson Waldorf School are encouraged to join our Spring Session, where they won’t miss any major projects.

🎨 Winter Clay & Sculpture Program

Ages 7-13

In this 8-week hands-on program, students explore the expressive possibilities of clay through sculptural projects and creative pottery forms. This winter session is entirely focused on building imaginative forms, experimenting with new techniques, and developing rich surface designs. 

Students Will Explore:

• Sculptural characters, animals, and imaginative creatures

• Tiny houses, lanterns, shrines, and whimsical architectural forms

• Textured wall tiles, hanging pieces, and seasonal sculptures

• Handbuilding techniques: slab, coil, pinch, joining, hollowing

• Nature-based textures using leaves, bark, stones, pinecones, and garden finds

• Surface design: carving, stamping, sgraffito, slip painting, texture layering, and glazing

All students (ages 8–13) work within the same project themes, with individualized guidance so each child can challenge themselves at their own level.

🌿 A Cozy Winter Alternative for Creative Youth

While ski groups enjoy the mountain, eARTh Studios becomes a warm, welcoming workshop where young artists can deepen their skills, express their imagination, and enjoy the quiet joy of creating with clay.

This program is ideal for students who enjoy making things with their hands, storytelling through art, or spending winter afternoons in a calm, uplifting environment.

If your child is skiing on Fridays with the Nelson Waldorf School, please register for our Spring Clay & Sculpture Session to take part in the full sequence of winter projects.
