We’re Happy To Be Back!
We’ve increased safety measures and special precautions for hygiene and social distancing in our studio. We have started a new cleaning routine that includes strict hand-washing and sanitizing protocols and personal protective equipment like masks and gloves. We are also making sure that the workspace itself is regularly cleaned. We have also reduced the capacity to 4 people at a time in the studio to ensure social distancing is possible. Due to this classes are filling up quickly so sign up early! New dates and times updated on the classes page.
Pottery Classes
Beginner Wheel Class Series
For the beginner, this 7-week class series is designed to instill confidence in learning how to make your own dishes on the pottery wheel. Demonstrations include: centering, raising walls, throwing wide bowls, and pulling handles for cups, vases, and jars. Stain, slip, and glaze introduction to surface design. Gain knowledge of the historical development of wheel-thrown pottery and techniques. Develop the ability to throw pots on the wheel.
From Forming it to Finish it: Hand-building
This workshop is developed over the course of six weeks and designed for both beginner and intermediate ceramicists who delight in learning from the clay, how it speaks, stands, falls and moves off the wheel! We will begin with a personal experience of the clay medium through sculptural pinch techniques followed by an introduction to slab building possibilities using studio Slump and Hump Molds.
Open Studio (Clay Therapy)
Open Studio offers a place to connect with your creative self among others who are also exploring the possibilities with the clay medium. This evening is non-instructional. Everything you need is available to you for hand-building (extruders, slab rollers, and banding wheels) as well as 4 wheels available on a first-come-first-served basis.
(Due to Covid-19 you must reserve your spot ahead of time. Call Diane for space.)
